must be returned to Mrs. Russo in guidance by the deadline date typed on the top of the application.
Cavallaro Cleary Visual Foundation Art Scholarship
This scholarship is open to graduating students who plan to pursue a career in the visual arts and have maintained
an unweighted GPA of 2.5. Applicant must adhere to the strict portfolio guidelines. Applications due into the guidance
office no later than April 3, 2009.
Worcester County Branch NAACP
This scholarship is open to a graduating senior who is economically disadvantaged and/or culturally deprived and
must demonstrate potential for succeeding at a post secondary institution. Applications due into the guidance office
no later than April 6, 2009.
Worcester County Education Support Personnel Association Scholarship
This scholarship is open to children or grandchildren of members of the WCESPA. Applications are due into the
guidance office no later than April 7, 2009.
Salisbury Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation
This $1000 renewable scholarship is open to graduating students who plan to pursue a career which is directly related to helping
children. Applications are due into the guidance office no later than April 7, 2009.
Ocean City Parrothead Club
This scholarship is open to graduating students. Applications due into the guidance office no later than
April 7, 2009.
Delta Kappa Gamma Book Award
This $500 book scholarship will be awarded to a graduating female who has been accepted to college and plans
To pursue a career in education. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 7, 2009
Chapter AE PEO Sisterhood
This $500 scholarship is open to young women only . Applications due into guidance no later than April 8, 2009.
Bowie State University Lower Shore Alumni Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is open to graduating students who plan to enroll in Bowie State University. Scholarships
are based on academic qualifications, character and financial need. Applications are due into the guidance office
no later than April 8, 2009.
American Legion Boggs-Disharoon Post $123 Auxiliary
Applicants for this scholarship must be able to demonstrate academic success (“B” average), participation
in community service and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university. Applications due into the guidance
office no later than April 8, 2009.
Green Hill Yacht and Country Club Scholarship
Applications for the $1000 scholarship are due into guidance no later than April 8, 2009.
Joseph Fox, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a Maryland graduating student who plans to pursue a career
in education with an emphasis on reading or a reading related field. Applications due into the guidance
office no later than April 8, 2009.
Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award
This program, which is open only to juniors, offers a $500 scholarship and are automatically enrolled in the
Hamilton Leaders Academy. This is a fully-paid leadership program that includes training in Seattle in 2010
and in Guatemala in 2011. Applicants are evaluated on five criteria which broadly address individual
achievements and community service. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 8, 2009.
Art League of Ocean City
This scholarship is open to graduating students who plan to pursue a career in the visual, performing or
literary arts. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 8, 2009.
Farmers Bank of Willards
This scholarship is open to graduating students who are ranked in the top 20% of their class, can demonstrate
financial need, leadership, academic achievement and community service. Applications due into the guidance
office no later than April 8, 2009.
George, Miles and Buhr LLC Architectural and Civil Engineering Scholarships
These two scholarships are open to graduating students who plan to pursue a career in architecture or
civil engineering. Applications are due into the guidance office no later than April 8, 2009.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Princess Anne Chapter
This scholarship is open to African American students who will graduate from a Worcester County school.
students must have maintained a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and have been an active participant
in extra-curricular activities. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 8, 2009.
Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Scholarship
This $1000 Minds in Motion scholarship is open to high school athletes who have participated in MPSSAA
recognized sports and have received Minds in Motion awards. Required information is due into the guidance
office no later than April 10. 2009.
Ocean City Surfrider Foundation “Leave Only Our Footprints” Scholarship
This scholarship is open to graduating students who have maintained a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA,
have participated in an Ocean City Chapter Surfrider Foundation sponsored program, demonstrated
commitment to environmental issues and are planning to pursue a career in areas consistent with the
Surfrider mission. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 17, 2009.
Stephen Decatur High School SGA Leadership Scholarship
This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving senior who exhibits leadership within the school community.
Applications are due into the guidance office no later than April 17, 2009.
Women’s Club of Ocean Pines
Students are eligible for this scholarship if they are full time residents of Ocean Pines, have an unweighted GPA
of 2.5 or higher with no grade below a “C”, and are able to demonstrate participation in community service
and extra-curricular activities. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 17, 2009.
Class of 1955 Scholarship
Applicants must be ranked in the top 20% of the class and demonstrate some financial need. Applications are
due into the guidance office no later than April 20, 2009.
Tony Carozza Community Service Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding service resulting in a
positive impact on others and/or who has overcome a major challenge in their service to others or in reaching
their graduating goals. Applications are due into guidance no later than April 20, 2009.
SDHS Chapter of SADD
To be eligible for this scholarship student must have been a member of SADD at least one year preceding
the date of the award, have been accepted to a college, be able to demonstrate some financial need, have
shown leadership skills and community involvement and have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applications
due into the guidance office no later than April 21, 2009.
Coastal Delmarva Women’s Council of Realtors
This scholarship is based on the following criteria: community service, extra-curricular activities, scholastic
achievement, and career goals and aspirations. Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 20, 2009.
Stephen Decatur High school Athletic Booster Scholarship
Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 22, 2009.
Daisey Insurance Company Agricultural Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is open to residents of Delmarva who plan to pursue a career in an agricultural
related field. Applications due into guidance no later than April 23, 2009.
Children’s Home Foundation of the Eastern Shore of Maryland
This scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing vocational or technical careers only, which may require
up to 2 years of study or 3 years in the case of nursing. The student must be a resident of one of the nine
counties of the eastern shore, have demonstrated ability in succeed in their chosen field, have documented
financial need and must plan to attend an approved school within 250 miles of the eastern shore. Applications
are due into the guidance office no later than April 23, 2009.
Ocean City Surf Heritage “Bill Wise” Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to graduating students who exhibit a zest for life, water and “aloha” spirit.

Berlin Lions Club

Quota Club of Ocean City
This scholarship will recognize graduating seniors who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
This scholarship is available to African-American students who have maintained a minimum 2.8 unweighted gpa.

American Legion Boggs Disharoon Post #123
This scholarship will be awarded to students who best exemplify the high qualities of courage, honor, leadership
Patriotism, scholarship and service. Applications are due into the guidance office by April 23, 2009.
Worcester County Teacher Scholarship
Applicants must be graduating seniors from Worcester County Public Schools who are pursuing teacher certification
in a critical shortage subject area and agree to apply for a teaching position in Worcester County Public Schools. Applications
due into guidance no later than April 23, 2009.
Greater Chesapeake USBC Association Scholarship
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, either the student or the parent must be a sanctioned league bowler and have
maintained a minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA. Applications are due into the guidance office no later than April 24, 2009.
Barbara S. Davis Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be a graduating student, must plan to major in education and pursue a career in teaching, must
have maintained a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA, and must be able to document current or previous
community service in education related activities or organizations. Applications due into the guidance office
no later than April 24, 2009.
Pat and Dick Hazel Minority Scholarship
Scholarship is open to minority students who plan to pursue a career in education. Applications due into
guidance no later than April 24, 2009.
Worcester County Farm Bureau
This $500 scholarship is open to graduating students who plan to pursue a degree in agriculture, forestry,
or an area that benefits agriculture. Applications are due into the guidance office no later than April 24, 2009.
Ocean Pines Board of Golf Governors Jr. Golf Program Scholarship
This $1500 scholarship is open to a graduating senior who has participated on Stephen Decatur’s golf team.
Applications due into the guidance office no later than April 24, 2009.
Jessica L. Petsche Memorial Scholarship
Candidates must have maintained a minimum 3.25 GPA and be able to demonstrate participation in
athletics or school organizations, participation in community service activities, and personal achievement
in the face of adversity or economic family hardship. Applications are due into the guidance office no later
than April 27, 2009.
Greater Berlin Minority Scholarship
Applicants must have been a resident of Worcester County and the SDHS residential district for at least
3 years, have maintained a minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA, and be able to demonstrate scholarship,
character and integrity. Applications due into the guidance office no later than May 5, 2009.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship
This essay contest is open to high school juniors and seniors. Entries should be submitted online to
www.scholarships@abbottandfenner.com.
Dr. Paul W. Vineyard Scholarship
$1000 scholarship open to a graduating senior who plans to major in dental hygiene. Application due into
guidance no later than May 27, 2009.
Drew Smith Memorial Scholarship
Applicants must plan to major in golf turf management. Applications due into the guidance office no later than
May 27, 2009.
Duck Brand Duct Tape “Stuck At Prom” Contest
Students must construct prom attire using Duct Tape. Rules governing this program are available in the guidance office and must be submitted by June 8, 2009.
