SDHS sophomores Blakelyn Harrington and Alyssa Hardesty following technological instruction from award winning
math teacher, Mr. Jamie Greenwood.
On Monday, April 30th, Stephen Decatur High School math teacher Jamie Greenwood was recognized by the WMDTV program, “Teachers Make a Difference.” Greenwood is in his fifth year of teaching Algebra II, and geometry. He also and serves as junior class advisor, co-advisor to the prom, junior varsity soccer coach (for 12 years) and now varsity soccer coach, Leo Club Co-advisor, Accreditation for Growth Technology Co-chair and is an active member of the SDHS Athletic Boosters.
Freshman Cate Cropper nominated Greenwood because, “I have never liked math until this year. Mr. Greenwood has made me want to do more math. So in December, my mother and I nominated him to be recognized for his many talents.”
Additionally sophomore Blakelyn Harrington adds, “Mr. Greenwood helps me reach my goals. And he is always willing to give extra help after school. Plus, he makes us laugh while we learn.”
Sophomore Alyssa Hardesty concludes, “He is a good teacher. He uses modern technology like a ‘smart board’ which let’s us be interactive.”
Greenwood comments , “The recognition is a surprise and an honor. The plaque and flowers made today special. Having great technology like a ‘smart board’ (a benefit of our school’s $10,000 Intel award) and great students make everyday special.”
