| The students at SDHS excel academically as well as athletically. As a staff, we would like to support student-athletes in making the best possible post-secondary choice. The Collegiate Athletic Advisory Board (CAB) will inform, stimulate and challenge our students to become more informed about their options after high school. With the knowledge that they will gain, they and their families can make the best decision for them. Thus, the CAB will ensure that SDHS alumni will continue to excel in the future. |
The students and their families will:
1. Become informed of the reality of college athletics.
2. understand the demands placed on college athletes by coaches as well as professors.
3. explore the educational opportunities available at different levels throughout the country.
4. gain the best possible education for the best bargain.
5. take the PSAT and SAT tests in order to earn scholarship money and meet enrollment standards for colleges.
6. examine the benefits of public vs. private universitites.

1. A select group of approximately 30 student-athletes will be nominated by their coaches. This will take place during their sophomore years and they will remain in the organization as long at they continue to meet the criteria and want to be a part or the CAB. New members may join as the CAB committee sees fit.
2. Student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
3. CAB is a multi-gender club an dis open to both sexes. Issues of both sexes will be discussed and examined.
4. Members may be asked to complete homework/research of their sports, colleges, testing, etc. Members who continue to not complete those tasks may be dismissed from CAB.
5. All members must sign a permission slip to inform their parent of the purposes and mission of the CAB.
6. Students will be asked to attend bi-monthly meetings. Locations and times will be announced. Any work that the students miss will be expected to be made up in a timely fashion. |
