SDHS BAND BOOSTERS

Welcome to the Stephen Decatur Band Boosters! We are a parent organization, which exists to provide support for the Marching Band, Color Guard, Symphonic Band and Jazz Combo. We meet on the 1^st Wednesday of every month @ 6:00 p.m. in the SDHS Band Room.

2007-2008 SDHS Band Booster Officers

The Band Boosters provide support at the following events:

• Home Football games: Before games we assist in braiding hair, moving equipment to the football field; During games: we are their #1 FANS; After the games: moving equipment back to band room, organizing and putting away student uniforms.

• Berlin Fall Festival: The Band performs; Boosters assist at booth, selling band

t-shirts, taking fruit sales orders, Dippin’ Dots, face painting, etc. This event is held @ Stephen Decatur Park.

• Fall & Christmas, St. Patrick‘s Day and Memorial Parades: Boosters serve as chaperones on the busses to & from parades; march alongside band/color guard members to retrieve any dropped band equipment, such as drumsticks, flags & rifles. We provide refreshments to the band students after some of the parades (cookies & water).

• Christmas Concert: Parents of Seniors in Marching Band & Color Guard host a reception for all after the Christmas Concert.

• Fundraisers: Fall: Traditionally, we have a fruit sale; Winter: We host a Pancake Supper @ Layton’s on 16^th Street in Ocean City & an evening at Planet Maze; Spring: We sell soda, water and hot chocolate @ the St. Patrick’s Day Parade & possibly participate in a Carrabbas dinner @ SDHS.

Annual Band Banquet. Boosters host the annual Band Banquet in May, providing help with set-up and clean-up, as well as food, drinks, and awards.

Where do the funds go? We pay for the following:

• The Drum Line Instructor

• Band Booster Scholarships

• Band Camp for the Drum Major & Color Guard Leaders

• Band & Color Guard equipment not paid for by school funds

• Transportation not covered by school funds

• Uniform repair and replacement not covered by school funds
