After School Academy

March brings us to the end of After School Academy Cycle 2 and the beginning of Cycle 3.  Please be aware that there will be no sessions from March 4-22, the two weeks between the cycles.

Now that your child is well into his second semester classes, he might have identified a need to attend Homework Tutorial for some additional help in those classes that are difficult for him. After School Academy registration is accepted on a continuous basis.

SAT Preparation classes began on February 16 and will continue through Cycle 4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These classes are intended to prepare students for the spring testing dates. Reviews focus on the verbal portion of the test on Tuesdays and the math portion on Thursdays.

The Hospitality Academy has been busy with menu and decoration planning for several SDHS winter and early spring functions. Our appreciation goes out to this group of young event planners for preparing the annual Job Fair luncheon which was held on February 23 and the Academic Team Challenge luncheon which will be held at Wor-Wic Community College on March 11.

Looking ahead, The Academic Team, MESA and Model United Nations are busy preparing for spring competitions while our Arts and Media Academy  is gearing up for a The Bard’s Birthday Bash in honor of William Shakespeare on April 23. Fishing Club is anticipating several events with the coming of warmer weather. PNC Bank will hopefully be joining Financial Planning For Teenagers for a special money management seminar for seniors late in April.  HSA subject reviews and Bridge Plan sessions are also in the plans for Cycle 4.
